About

Jack Flanagan
Jack Flanagan is an Australian industrial designer and artist creating high-end furniture, products and sculpture defined by his design aesthetic and longevity. Working from a studio in Western Australia, the practice combines industrial discipline with the sensitivity of traditional craftsmanship.
Informing Jack’s work is the exploration of the concepts of attachment and permanence and the relationships that families and individuals forge with treasured objects, that become the recorder and keeper of shared stories. Jack embraces ancient and traditional techniques and materials like bronze and aluminium sand casting, turned metals and timbers and the creation of unique colours and wood stains, as well as the latest manufacturing technology and materials for industrial scale.
Formally studying Industrial design, a blend of art and engineering, was the catalyst to earnestly pursue the exploration of forms where art meets function and innovation.
Each piece begins with consideration: what is essential. From there, form and function are refined until only what is necessary remains. The result is furniture that feels timeless, functional and restrained.
All work is made in Australia using processes that respect both material and maker. The studio collaborates closely with local artisans and fabricators who share a commitment to quality and rigour. The outcome is not mass production, but carefully made pieces designed to serve their environments for decades.
Jack Flanagan creates for those who value intention over ornament, and who recognise the authority of well-made objects. While the forms appear simple, they are underpinned by rigorous thinking, advanced fabrication, and a deep respect for craft.
