Balvenie Bar
The Balvenie Bar was part of a national competition to design a pop-up bar for Scottish whisky company, The Balvenie. Woods Bagot won the competition, with their design concept that took hints from the five elements of the Balvenie brand: identity, experience, functionality, mobility and showcase, and collaborated with Jack Flanagan for the fabrication.
The materials in the design are simple and sophisticated, with the form taking inspiration from a traditional Scottish Whisky drinking bowl; the Quaich.

Its all in the details
Jack used traditional techniques in the fabrication of the Balvenie Bar. The timber was blackened with fire, using the Shou Sugi Ban technique, and sandcasting was used for the custom bronze sink.
The repurposed brass fittings allowed for the bar to be completely disassembled for transportation.
